Who says pastels are just for spring? Living on the Florida coast, pastels are pretty much fair game year around, but what about everyone else? With help from my friends at Cabana Life, I put together a great look showcasing how to wear pastels this fall.
Special thanks to Cabana Life for Sponsoring this post. All opinions and advice remain my own.
Let’s Talk Layers
One easy way of integrating your pastels into your Fall wardrobe is to mix and match multiple hued neutral layers. For this look I took this blue resortwear shirt dress from Cabana Life and added a tan sweater, brown suede boots, and a grey felt hat to lend the look more interest and depth. All the neutrals really pulled out the complimentary colors from the print of the dress, making the look feel cohesive. I also added a soft pop of color with a pastel pink necklace that complimented the pink in my lip color.
Add Texture
An important part of transitioning pastels into Fall is adding texture. When I think Spring I think of eyelet and delicate lace. In Fall, start integrating heavier knits and natural fibers such as suede and leather to give the look a sense of warmth. I loved how well these textures went with what felt to me like a more preppy dress. It softened up the entire look and added a boho western flare to the outfit.
Play With Prints
Embroidery and florals can marry light and dark shades into something very romantic. In this case my dress already had a lovely print, but if your base was a solid color you could just as easily top it off with an embroidered bomber or military jacket. In Londy’s dress above you can see how her embroidered Ivory dress fits in just as easily in Fall as it would in Spring. In the below image Ideal of Sweden took the same inspiration for it’s latest fall line of phone cases with this Champagne Birds print. Further proving that fall can be perfect for pastels and florals.

Shop The Style

Hi Amy,
I’m obsessed with your riding boots in “How to Wear Pastels This Fall”! I followed the link (Frye), however it was not the same boot. Will you please share the brand and style?
Thank you!
Yes, they were from last season. It’s the Sansa boot from Not Rated. Here is a link where it is available in a few sizes. http://rstyle.me/n/cvaxt8b7ka7
