Back to my Irish Roots- Wednesday Review

Recently a friend of mine made a local discovery that neither of us could believe I’d missed. If the notorious local following hadn’t registered, then their feature in Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives” should have clued me in. Alas, I crawled out of the proverbial rock I’d been hiding under to finally get a taste of what everyone’s been raving about at Culhane’s Irish Pub.

Located in a humble corner of Atlantic Beach, FL, one would hardly expect to walk in and be transported to Ireland itself.

Culhane’s Irish Pub is located in Atlantic Beach, FL

Culhane’s, however, has accomplished just that. Everything from the family story of the four sisters who own Culhane’s, to the impressive menu add to the genuine Irish atmosphere. Being from a big Irish family myself, I’ve always known that we Irish, set the bar high in hospitality, and my expectations were not disappointed. It was immediately clear this Irish Pub lacked nothing, from loyal following, to a lot of heart.

The Sisters
How to decide? Go with the wait staff suggestions.

That heart, we were told, goes into each dish. The sisters were inspired by their heritage, and their family meals growing up back in Ireland.  Like my own Irish family, the girls grew up on a farm where they learned to cherish home grown goodness, and the best quality ingredients. What I discovered upon tasting, was how that inspiration translated on the plate from comfort to gourmet with locally sourced ingredients, as well as imported specialties direct from the Emerald Isle.

Something for everyone, including the wine lover.
The menu features traditional favs like this Scotch Egg. Mouth Watering Goodness!!

Further inspection of the menu revealed more variety than expected. Traditional Irish dishes (Bangers and Mash), local favorites (Fish Tacos), as well as healthy selections (Tasty Salads) were all there. They even have something for the ever growing Gluten Free diner including Gluten Free Beer. As “night out” destinations go, you will find everything here from live music, to romantic ambiance, even trivia on their more “Recreation” side of the Pub. Whether is a casual date night out, or a family gathering (munchkin friendly) you will be as comfortable at Culhane’s as in your own home. Look for their new lunch menu and notorious Brunch menu. I hear their Bread Pudding sandwich is a Must Have!!

A-List Meals of the Night

Fall off the bone “Bourbon Guinness Ribs” with greens and Sweet Potato Fries for a more southern taste.
Guinness Beef Stew for your comfort dish craving.
Kaye’s Pasta Mac. A 3 cheese slice of Heaven in a dish!
