The Boyfriend Jean – Fashionable Friday

Today’s fashionable post is brought to you by fashionista Natalie Geuther of the blog Nat-attack! I’ve known Natalie since she was a teenager and I can honestly say she is a lovely inside as she is out.

Natalie Geuther – Fashionista

I recently photographed her for her blog and we are such kindred spirits I asked her to bring some of her fashion sense to the A-list. Just in time for fall, she brings us her take on the boyfriend jean.

The Boyfriend
Jean

Oh, the
boyfriend jean. The longevity of this trend is really astonishing, especially
considering that by itself, this is not the most flattering piece that has ever
graced the feminine frame. But thanks to correct styling, the boyfriend jean
can be used to achieve a laid – back coolness that all of the celebrities
seemed to have mastered.

This
season is the first time I partook of this cult like trend. I was so attracted
to the idea of making such a masculine piece chic – and now it is one of my
favorite looks.

While
there are many ways to rock the boyfriend jean, my favorite look is pairing it
with a slimming top. I believe that there should be a sense of symmetry with
every outfit, so a tighter top off-sets the bagginess of the jean.

My
favorite shoe with this look is a heel. In fact, I feel like that is one of the
sexiest looks one can get away with. A pump makes for a clean, sophisticated
look, but a trendy heel (think patterned) will also do the trick. The height
will elongate the legs, therefore making this piece a bit more flattering. It
also adds a necessary feminine flare to the look.

The Boyfriend Jean - For LLWN

Accessorizing will be absolutely crucial for
this outfit. If you are going for a more laid back look, try a beanie or a
baseball hat. For everything else, kill it with your necklace. Big, bright bib
necklaces are huge right now – and if it can play off of the heel, then you
have achieved a complete and polished look. A sleek, pop – of – color clutch
will also give a put together feel; it’s hard to go wrong with a neon color of
sorts.

Thanks Natalie for bringing your inspiration on the boyfriend jean! I’d love to hear some comments from our readers on any trendy pieces you find challenging to wear. We will put Natalie to the test on how she would style it!

Enjoy the Journey!
